Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to some of the common questions our patients have asked about registered massage therapy in Kelowna and the Okanagan.

Below you will find answers to some of the questions our patients have about our registered massage therapy services.

For best results, we recommend that you schedule your appointment in advance.

What can you expect from your massage with Ashley?

Your initial visit will be 45-60 minutes to allow enough time for a comprehensive assessment and health history. The assessment portion may include orthopaedic testing, muscle testing, and Neurokinetic Therapy to go beyond your symptoms to help uncover the root cause of the issue. Immediately after will be your initial treatment to improve your concerns and discuss a treatment plan to help you enjoy an optimal life.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete an intake form.

What should you wear for a massage appointment?

Your comfort is important to the best outcome of our session, so we recommend you wear clothing you can feel comfortable in while receiving treatment. Shorts and tank tops are perfect.

Which conditions do you treat?

We can help you with a wide variety of conditions, such as:

  • Pain/Discomfort Due to Maternity
  • Cesarean Scar Tissue
  • Single or Double Mastectomy

Do I need a doctor’s referral for Registered Massage Therapy?

In general – no, you do not need a referral for registered massage therapy. If you have extended healthcare insurance, you may require a referral from a medical doctor. It’s best to confirm your coverage with your insurance provider in advance.

How long is a Registered Massage Therapy treatment?

We have a wide selection of massage services with varying times. If this is your first treatment, we recommend a one-hour session to ensure we have sufficient time to identify and address your primary concerns. For maternity patients, a 75-minute session gives us enough time to effectively assess and treat you and your changing body.

For your very first visit, we suggest you arrive a few minutes early to complete the required forms.
